May I Never Fail a Friend...
May I never fail a friend.
May I respect myself.
May I always keep tame that which rages within me.
May I accustom myself to be gentle and never be angry with others because of circumstances.
It's from "Singing the Living Tradition," which is the sort of hymnal book that has readings, poetry, bible excerpts, quotes from famous activists, etc., on a variety of subjects in the Unitarian Universalist church I've been going to on occasion. I enjoy studying it when I'm there and finding at least one or two that I want to think more about or apply to myself...

Words to live by. Where is it from?
Like the sense of peace and patience in this poem.
